4/10/2020 UPDATE - Breakfast and Lunch: Due to continued efforts to do our part in keeping students, families, staff, community, and vulnerable residents healthy and safe from the spread of COVID-19 (C19) by significantly reducing access to FDS, our “Grab and Go” meal schedule is now Mondays, Tuesdays (two days of meals), and Thursdays (two days of meals). We will continue to use the FDS Main Entrance Roundabout from 10:00 a.m. to noon for pick up on those designated days. Additionally, families will now grab the appropriate number of meals from a cart or table near their vehicle rather than having staff handing the bags directly into the car.
Foresthill Divide School will not be open on Friday 4/10/2020 for "Grab and Go" meals. Please know that on Thursday 4/9/2020 staff will be proving your student with two of the "Grab and Go" meals if requested. This will be for Thursday and Friday. We hope you all are enjoying your spring break.

Hello FDS Families, Staff, and Board:
First – thank you! Thank you for your trust and patience as all of us work together to navigate this everchanging situation in our nation. Please note the below press release from the Placer County Office of Education (PCOE) regarding school closures through May 1, 2020.
The health and safety of our students is a responsibly we as a FUSD/FDS team take seriously. We are in constant communication with the Placer County Office of Education, Placer County Public Health and statewide education leaders on how we can keep all who are part of our learning community safe in the midst of this growing health crisis. In order to slow the spread of COVID-19 to the maximum extent possible, we have decided to extend school closures through May 1. This is a unified decision made in consultation with the Placer County Health Officer and in collaboration with school district and charter school leaders throughout Placer County. During the extended closure, distance learning and meal service will continue as planned. More detailed information will be provided in tomorrow’s Friday Family Newsletter. As all of us navigate this difficult time, we must continue to follow the “shelter-in-place” order issued by Governor Newsom and stay home except for essential activities. We all want students back in school and for our communities to return to normalcy as soon as possible. But, not at the risk of their health and safety. New information is surfacing rapidly, and we will continue to diligently monitor the situation and re-evaluate our steps in the coming weeks. As usual, I will continue my consultation and collaboration with Placer County Office of Education, Placer County Health Department, regional Superintendents, staff, and Board to contemplate new and changing impacts to our school community and how best to serve our students, families, and staff during these rapidly evolving times.
Please be sure to be diligent and continue to check your emails, texts, and phone for important messages. I will continue to keep everyone timely apprised on this COVID-19 matter.
Thank you. Jack Superintendent/Principal

Placer County Health Officer issues directive to stay home except for essential activities
AUBURN, Calif. -- Placer County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson has issued a directive for residents to remain at home except to engage in “essential activities,” effective 12:01 a.m., March 20, 2020, in response to local and regional spread of COVID-19. “It is critical that every member of our community heed this directive if we hope to slow the spread of this disease and prevent severe loss of life,” said Sisson. “This is an extraordinary measure but we are in an extraordinary time, and we must act quickly to meet this moment.”
Thus far, there have been 9 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Placer County including one death as of 2 p.m. on March 19. In addition, at least 11 cases in Sacramento County are directly linked to cases in Placer County. With evidence of community spread occurring in the region, it is expected that case numbers will increase further, especially as testing capacity grows.
Under the directive, Placer County residents are directed to only leave their residence to perform essential activities, some of which include:
• Activities to maintain the health and safety of family or household members (including pets), such as obtaining medication. • Obtaining necessary services or supplies (or delivering those services or supplies to others), such as getting groceries. • Engaging in outdoor activity, provided six feet of spacing is maintained between people who are not members of the same household. • Performing work providing essential products and services at an essential business as defined in the directive, or to otherwise carry out activities specifically permitted in the directive. • Caring for a family member or pet in another household.
For a complete list of activities and businesses considered “essential,” please see the full directive.
The directive follows evolving local, state and federal guidance over the past weeks. Other counties in the region have issued similar directives or orders. The Placer County Health Officer will continue to evaluate the situation and could take additional action in the future if warranted.
“As we continually learn more about COVID-19, how easily it is transmitted and how dangerous it can be for some portions of our populations at higher risk, it’s become clear how crucial it is for us to limit interpersonal interactions now,” Sisson said. “If you are at lower risk, please consider helping your at-risk friends and loved ones keep stocked on essentials so they can stay home as much as possible.”
Individuals with mild illness should manage their symptoms at home with over-the-counter drugs whenever possible, regardless of whether they have a cold, the flu, or COVID-19. Contact your health care provider if you have more concerning symptoms and wish to inquire about testing. For more general inquiries around COVID-19 and Placer County’s new directive, view current information at www.placer.ca.gov/coronavirus. A public hotline is also available at 530-886-5310.
“I understand how disruptive this directive is,” said Sisson. “I have not taken this decision lightly. COVID-19 poses a significant threat to the Placer community and I implore every resident of our county to take the threat seriously and follow this directive. Our lives depend on it.”

Hello FDS Families, Staff, and Board:
This is Superintendent/Principal Jack Kraemer
Due to the need to timely inform you of important and critical matters regarding COVID-19 and school closure, I am once again reaching out to families via telephone with a follow up email soon thereafter.
During the Special Board meeting today at 11:00 a.m., I was able to provide a briefing and update to the Board, staff, families, and public regarding actions to date and next steps.
Though school will be closed due to COVID-19 starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3, our FDS families will still be able to have breakfast and lunch available in “to go” packages for pick up from 10:00 a.m. to noon during those weekdays. The amazing cafeteria team will be doing their best to support our families during these unprecedented times. Please be patient in the first few days as they work through this new process and most likely, rain or snow. As a reminder, Spring Break is still scheduled for Monday, April 6 through Monday, April 13. The anticipated first day back to school is Tuesday, April 14. Regarding teaching and instruction during school closure, I will be working with the teachers starting tomorrow morning to discuss how, when, and if we are able to provide distance learning or other manner of education during school closure. I will keep the families timely informed of our progress.
With the closure of school, it is with deep sadness for me to remind families that FDS, unfortunately, is not able to properly and responsibly provide childcare service at this time. We will continue to explore childcare options and will report back to families if anything changes.
During school closure, the front office will be physically closed. However, we will still be conducting business and will be answering the telephone during our regular 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. hours in order to continue serving our families and community.
As our Maintenance and Operations staff will be doing a thorough cleaning throughout the entire campus and in continuance of our mitigation measures, please do not come to the school unless on scheduled school related matters or requested to do so by me.
And finally, I have heard that some families are not receiving our robo-calls and/or emails. The front office will check into the matter tomorrow morning.
As our community navigates this difficult time, the safety and wellness of our students, staff, and families continue to be our first priority. We thank you for your support and understanding.
Thank you.
Jack Superintendent/Principal
